Boglioli Cashmere - The Cause of Unsolicited Stroking

Boglioli Cashmere

Boglioli Cashmere

4 generations of tailors from the Boglioli family have made Gambara in the province of Brescia in Northern Italy their home. Classic tailoring was their business until the two brothers, Mario and Pierreluigi changed the name of their brand to the family name, and began experimenting with fabric compositions and treatments.

With the casual lifestyle promoted much by the dot com crowd of the late 90's, the Boglioli brothers saw an opportunity to modify the make of the traditional tailored jacket. They eliminated the lining, took the roping out of the shoulders and washed and dyed the finished product. The result was a softer, lighter jacket that was much easier to wear. They found that with no lining and the garment washed, the fabric became much more pliable, allowing a snugger fit of the jacket without compromising elegance or comfort.

The Gigi; A Meteor Shower of Colors & Fabrics

The Gigi

In 2012, Mario and Pierluigi (Gigi) sold their interest in the family tailoring company, Boglioli, and embarked on a new venture. The Gigi collection was first launched at Pitti Uomo in Florence in January 2014 and will arrive at our store in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

The essence of the collection is to expose the classics of a man's wardrobe to a "meteor shower" of colors, fabrics, and weaving techniques never before attempted. Inspirations are taken from architecture and photography. Jacquards* and Fil Coupés** play integral parts in their designs. Sounds confusing, but the end result is far from it. There is an orderly, although unconventional look to their patterns. A feel of modern design, but not over the top. Their mantra, "Don't look back", stitched into all their creations, reflects Gigi's passion for always being one step ahead, already proven in the garment dyed, unconstructed Boglioli K Jacket of 1999.

Boglioli K Jacket - A Quick Look

Boglioli Arnoldo K Jacket

The renowned Italian tailoring house of Boglioli dates back to the early days of the 20th century. Their production facility in Gambara, Brescia lies just a short drive east of Milan in northern Italy. In recent years, Boglioli have especially made their mark in perfecting the art of washing and garment dying their sartorial pieces, giving them the feel and look of a tailored favorite after years of use. This brown K Jacket in solid cashmere is a testimony to this. Light weight, almost shirt like, with very subtle wear marks on the pick stitched seams, it speaks of attitude. The model, 3 button rolled to 2, has narrower lapels, slimmer sleeves and a little shorter hem giving it a younger, more cosmopolitan look. To us, this is unpretentious luxury.
