Look Series #4: The Montana Shearling Vest

Foundational Autumn Looks to Kick-Off the Fall ’16 Season

Fall is a great time to favor casually rugged looks—thick flannels, well-worn jeans, luxuriant shearlings…they radiate character and complexity in an elegant, welcoming style. For the fourth installment of our ongoing Look Series, we’ve chosen a selection of recent arrivals that we envision as go-to pieces for any man’s fall wardrobe.

1. & 2. Montana Shearling Vest in Black & Brown

The Montana shearling vest is a stalwart of our fall style. Made from luxuriantly soft Spanish Merino shearling, it has a satisfying heft and full-bodied feel that complements its refined-rugged look. The Montana vest’s double collar, vintaged leather, and subtle design features register a look of quiet complexity and understated ruggedness.

3 & 4. Finamore Flannels

Few things say “fall” like flannel shirts—the perfect mix of rugged aesthetic and luxuriant comfort. Finamore’s flannel sport shirts are made from thick 100% cotton, brushed for utmost softness and inviting texture. With classic designs and handsome patterns, Finamore’s flannels are go-to shirts for office and weekend wear alike.

5. MAC Arne in Italian Pipe Wash

We added MAC jeans to our men’s collection not long ago, and we liked them so much that we ordered another wash. The ‘Italian Pipe’ wash—a medium blue shade with light distressing and a handsome vintage look—runs closer to the classic American denim look than the ‘Old Legend’ wash, which is a bit darker and has a more modern vibe.

6. Massimo Alba Jakhelln Pant

Corduroys are a nice alternative for those looking to mix it up from jeans—their 4-pocket build lends a ‘put-together’ look, but with more texture and depth than the average chinos. Velvet-lined pockets add an extra touch of luxury to this stylish, modern take on the classic corduroy pant.

7. Galway Boot in Dark Oak

From Edward Green’s Country collection, the 6" Galway boot features a double-thick sole finished with Dainite rubber—made for strolling stony coastlines, trouncing slick sidewalks, or kicking up your feet in comfort.

8. Comstock Heritage Mason B E 30mm

James Stegman often likes to include understated elements in his buckles—burnished rose gold easily mistaken for bronze, engravings with imperceptible detailing—but this may be one of Comstock’s most understated buckles through-and-through. It’s also among our go-to favorites. Extensive Florentine cross-hatching on the sterling silver face creates a heavy patina with loads of depth and complexity, while the wide border of smoothly polished sterling silver provides simultaneous contrast and complement. A master-class of elegance in simplicity.
