The John Lobb Brentwood is a single monk with a straight 3 row stitched toe cap, built on a 2511 last. A clean, assertive front and unique 25mm buckle give this shoe a refined, masculine tone, while the tapered toe and sleek silhouette lend a subtle modern appeal. Pictured in Black Museum Calf. E width. Listed in UK sizes. This is a terrific looking last, but the fit can be tricky—we strongly recommend that you give us a call to discuss sizing. In general, we suggest that US customers go down either 1 or 1.5 sizes (if you normally wear a 10 US, try a 9 or 8.5 UK). Made in Northampton, England.
Monk strap shoes originated as the working footwear of choice for friars, brothers, and priests of old Europe. More durable than the monk’s trademark sandals, monk strap shoes provided much better protection for manual labor—some modern monk straps still sport reinforced toes as a historical nod—while still being exceptionally comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Nowadays, monk straps are the style of choice among many fashion circles. Their sleek, lace-less profile and elegant construction make them a handsome choice for any occasion, and their humble history lend an unpretentious, even subtly casual air.
