John Lobb Brentwood
The Brentwood is a single monk strap built on John Lobb’s 2511 last (E width). Its clean appearance, three-row stitched toe cap, and unique 25mm buckle give this shoe a refined, masculine tone, while the tapered front and sleek profile lend a subtle modern appeal. This is a terrific looking last but the sizing can be fickle, so we strongly recommend calling in to make sure you get the right fit. In general, we suggest that U.S. customers go down either 1 or 1.5 sizes from their normal size (if you normally wear a 10 US, try an 8.5 or 9 UK). Made in Northampton, England; listed in UK sizes.
Monk strap shoes originated as the working footwear of choice for friars and priests of old Europe. More durable than the brothers’ trademark sandals, “monks” provided better protection for manual labor (some modern models sport reinforced toes for an historical nod) in addition to the comfort and convenience of their easy-on-off design. Nowadays, the monk strap’s sleek, lace-less profile and elegant construction have made it a popular choice among style-minded and casual audiences alike.
